This view moves me profoundly. When I look at it, I think of the divine — by whatever name. For me, the divine is everything. It not only holds the container, it is everything inside of the container. And by container I mean everything in the cosmos — here on our planet, so much beauty in nature, including this, here in southwest Colorado. Isn’t that extraordinary?
It makes my entire body buzz and tingle, especially my hands and feet. That’s one of the ways I have an experience of the divine. In fact, when I’m in session with others, that’s exactly what happens — my hands and feet start buzzing and tingling. And for the people I’m in session with, whether we’re gathered virtually, they’re listening to a recording, or we’re in person, they begin having a visceral experience of the divine in their body. For a lot of people, that opens a deeper relationship, a deeper intimacy with the divine — perhaps similar to what opens when we’re out in nature.
But here’s the thing: when we’re in nature, we might have these peak experiences and then return to our lives as if they’re disconnected, as if they’re separate. When we do deep inner spiritual work — work through the noise and open to a deeper experience and deeper intimacy with the divine — those peak experiences, the kind many people can identify with, the profound beauty of a moment like this one, that resonance, that presence — it becomes available all the time. From my perspective, that’s the foundational aspect of who we are. There is nothing more essential to our nature as human beings than the expression and experience of divine presence.
The opportunity, as I see it, is to open to a deeper and deeper experience of divine presence — and to do so in a predictable and accessible way, through deeper spiritual practice, opening to something that is available all the time and that we can actually experience all the time. It is exquisite out here. But it’s also exquisite in there — inside you, inside all of us.
What’s available to us as human beings is a wholesale transformation. Instead of momentary peak experiences — in nature, with people we love, holding a newborn baby — there is another depth available all the time. And ultimately that leads to sustaining fulfillment and inner peace. It’s an exquisite transformation, one I’ve been involved in with people from around the world for nearly 18 years — probably longer by the time you see this. It results in a real and extraordinary shift in lived experience. Nothing short of a literal shift in consciousness.
I’m grateful we’re connected in this way. Until we’re together again very soon — peace.
